Hey there, I’m Miss Thera!
Thanks for stopping by!
I’m an Educator, Artist and Playwright as well as a passionate neurodiversity advocate. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 10 years old and it took too many years for me to learn that ADHD didn’t make me bad or broken… it is just the way my brain functions and it makes me, ME!
As a multi-passionate creative with ADHD I have struggled the majority of my life to find one specific path to follow. Everyone always asks “What do you do?” and I’m like, “Is everything an ok answer?”
The reality is I “do” a lot… I “am” a lot… and sometimes I’m “too much”! BUT… I’m happy with who I am and I’ve decided “my people” are the people that allow me to be all the things I want to be and encourage me to do all the things I want to do! I’m done with trying to pair down who I am for other people’s comfort or for a neurotypical definition of career success.
My too-muchness is exactly why my shop Atypically Artistic was born!
My place to express myself freely without the confines of neurotypical expectations…
Throughout my entire life I have trained in the arts. My longest and greatest passion has always been dance with my main focus in Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance. Over decades as a performer, and my fourteen-year career as a teaching artist I have performed, choreographed, produced, directed and set hundreds of pieces and productions on stages all over the greater Seattle area.
Though dance has always been a huge part of my life, it is by no means all that I do. My creativity is my career and that is everchanging as I continuously explore new mediums. I am always looking for ways to learn more and do more with the life I have. Creative expression and growth is what keeps me alive, and thriving and I would never trade it for anything in the world.
